The Partnership
About the Programme
All Thirty six primary and special schools and eight secondary schools in Torbay are included in the Torbay Sport Partnership.
A School Sport Co-ordinator is based in each of the eight secondary schools and is responsible for working closely with a family of approximately four primary schools.
The Partnership development Manager, who is responsible for managing the programme, is based at Paignton Community & Sports College.
What the Torbay Sport Programme will do
The programme will work to improve and increase opportunities for young people to compete and take part in a wide range of physical activities, school sport and Out of Hours learning activities.
The School Sport Partnership is a key element of the Government's drive to implement the entitlement of two hours of high quality physical Education, plus an additional opportunity for a further three hours outside of the curriculum for all children.
The Torbay Sport Partnership is working to develop the talents, enrich the lives and benefit the health of the children living in Torbay.
Our Work plan includes
Creating opportunities and encouraging all young people to access a variety of activities and take part in PE and sport.
Using PE and sport to improve young people's self esteem and confidence and so help to raise standards in all areas of the curriculum.
Providing training opportunities for teachers and other adults.
Provide opportunities for young people to take sports leadership qualifications and gain placements within the community.
Links and Business
The Torbay School Sports Partnership will be working closely with Sport England, The Youth Sports Trust, Sports Leaders UK, Torbay Council, Torbay Sports Council, Sports Clubs and other agencies interested in promoting the benefits of sport and physical activity to young people.
We are also interested in working closely with the business community in Torbay. Opportunities exist for companies wishing to sponsor sports events, projects, training and challenges for young people.
