Young Ambassadors
Torbay Sport Partnership has a core group of 2 Platinum Young Ambassadors & 3 Gold Young Ambassadors who have been identified from their PE Teachers and have accessed training to support them in their role to:
- To use the inspiration of the Olympic and Paralympic Games to increase participati
on and promote healthy active lifestyles amongst other young people - To raise the profile and understanding of the Olympic and Paralympic values
- To promote the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and encourage schools to join the Get Set network
This core group have delivered training to a further 19 Adistar Young Ambassadors covering every secondary school, their core role we be to:
- Promote the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games within their school through the London 2012 education programme, Get Set
- Be role models in living out the Olympic and Paralympic Values within their school and their family of primaries.
These young people are the lead group for the Torbay Leadership Academy, within this they will train primary leaders and develop School Sport Committee Crews across the Bay.
The core group have also agreed two main areas of work, they are
- To develop a Young person Leadership and Volunteering Scholarship programme to support young people gaining appropriate qualifications.
- Bring to life the Torbay Schools Olympic Torch relay across every school
